Our Story

Hey there! I’m Angus, the founder of Tassie Garden Maintenance (TGM Launceston). My journey into the gardening industry started back in 2018, when I was just a teenager looking for a way to make some extra cash. I wanted to build something great, something I could be proud of, but as every young entrepreneur learns, success doesn’t happen overnight.

Originally, my business went by the name “Guswood’s Garden Maintenance”, and let’s be honest, it wasn’t exactly a name that screamed success. (Yeah, I know… What was I thinking? 😂) But even though the branding wasn’t quite there yet, my passion for the work was real. I started picking up small jobs where I could, doing my best to provide quality service. However, I quickly realized I needed more experience and a better strategy if I was going to turn this into something long-term.

That’s when I decided to rebrand to Tassie Garden Maintenance and build a business with real potential. At the time, I was still figuring things out, so most of the jobs I got through my small Facebook page were passed on to my dad, and we worked together under his business. This was where I really started learning the trade, everything from proper garden maintenance techniques to understanding how to manage a business. Working alongside my dad gave me hands-on experience, and I soaked up everything I could.

By 2020, I felt ready to go all in. I left behind the idea of working for someone else and committed to growing TGM full-time. Business was picking up, and things were looking promising. But life has a funny way of throwing curveballs. I was presented with an opportunity in real estate, and for a while, I decided to step away from the gardening industry to explore that path.

Not long after, I took another major step. I moved overseas. I wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone, gain new experiences, and figure out what I truly wanted to do in life. Living abroad gave me a fresh perspective on business, personal growth, and what it really means to build something of value.

In early 2024, I came back home to Launceston, and I knew it was time to return to my roots, literally. I re-established Tassie Garden Maintenance, determined to build it into something bigger than before. With everything I had learned from my past experiences, I had a new vision: to create a business that not only provides top-tier garden maintenance but also builds strong relationships with customers and offers a level of service that stands out.

Since then, we’ve been on an incredible growth journey. TGM Launceston has quickly become one of the fastest-growing garden maintenance businesses in the area, and we’re not slowing down anytime soon. My goal is to expand, bring on more skilled team members, and maybe even take this business statewide one day.

For me, this isn’t just about mowing lawns or trimming hedges. It’s about creating something special, a business that people trust, a service that makes life easier for homeowners, and a company that takes pride in every job, no matter how big or small.
